Job Title: Agri -Sourcing Intern

Job Description:
Our client, an Agri-SME offering a digital B2B marketplace solution, is urgently seeking a Sourcing Intern to join their team in Limuru. The Sourcing Intern will play a key role in ensuring the efficient and smooth sourcing of agricultural products from farmers, confirming quality and quantity at the farm level, and facilitating the delivery of products to the packhouse. The ideal candidate will work closely with the logistics and sourcing team to optimize collection routes, maintain relationships with farmers, and ensure product specifications are met.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Farm Location Assistance: Help drivers identify farm locations and plan the most efficient collection routes.
  • Sourcing Records & Reports: Compile accurate sourcing records, including Pick Up Notes, Goods Return Notes, and other relevant documentation.
  • Reporting Challenges: Report any challenges encountered during farm collections to the Line Manager promptly.
  • Farmer Communication: Effectively communicate with farmers, gathering feedback, and addressing concerns to ensure smooth collections.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Assist in maintaining company equipment, including scales and crates, ensuring they are in proper working condition.
  • Logistics Coordination: Liaise with the logistics and sourcing teams to communicate any changes to daily collection routes.
  • Unloading & Quality Confirmation: Assist with unloading the delivery vehicle at the receiving point, confirming the quality and quantity of produce at the farm level, and providing real-time feedback.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensure all safety policies and procedures are strictly followed during the sourcing and delivery processes.
  • Relationship Building: Develop strong, trusting relationships with farmers to facilitate future sourcing and collection processes.
  • Pick-up Notes Issuance: Record farmer details and issue Pick-up Notes to farmers to confirm their deliveries.
  • Ad-Hoc Tasks: Assist with other duties as assigned by the Line Manager related to sourcing and logistics.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • A Diploma or Degree in Agriculture, Agricultural Economics, or a related field.
  • At least 1 year of experience in an agricultural sourcing role or a related field is an added advantage.
  • Basic understanding of agriculture production processes, especially in sourcing and farm-level logistics.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to build relationships with farmers and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to work outdoors and in various weather conditions, as this is a field-based role.
  • Good organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with basic safety practices in the field.
  • A strong work ethic, willingness to learn, and a proactive attitude towards solving challenges.

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and liaise with various departments.
  • Comfortable with basic digital tools for documentation and reporting.
