Position Scope

Our client in Manufacturer of Hygiene and Sanitary items located in Ruiru is looking to fill the position of wh Stock Preparation Operator who will be reposnsible for operating and maintaining the stock preparation system in a paper mill. This includes overseeing the processing of raw materials into pulp, ensuring proper consistency, and maintaining quality standards. The role involves collaboration with various departments to optimize production efficiency, reduce waste, and ensure the smooth operation of equipment.

Job Description

  1. Operations Management:

    • Operate and monitor stock preparation machinery, including pulpers, refiners, screens, and pumps.

    • Adjust parameters to achieve the desired pulp consistency, quality, and flow rate.

    • Ensure raw materials are processed efficiently to meet production schedules.

  2. Quality Control:

    • Conduct routine checks to ensure pulp quality meets production specifications.

    • Monitor and adjust equipment settings to address quality deviations.

    • Record data on pulp properties and report any issues promptly.

  3. Equipment Maintenance:

    • Perform regular maintenance and cleaning of stock preparation equipment.

    • Troubleshoot mechanical or process-related issues and coordinate repairs with maintenance teams.

    • Maintain an inventory of spare parts and request replacements as needed.

  4. Safety and Compliance:

    • Adhere to safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.

    • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and waste management practices.

    • Report any safety hazards or incidents to the supervisor.

  5. Continuous Improvement:

    • Identify opportunities to improve stock preparation processes, reduce waste, and enhance efficiency.

    • Participate in team meetings to discuss and implement process improvements.

  6. Documentation and Reporting:

    • Maintain accurate records of equipment operation, maintenance, and production metrics.

    • Prepare and submit daily reports on stock preparation activities.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field.

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in the paper industry, specifically in a paper mill setting.

  • Strong understanding of stock preparation processes and equipment.

Skills

Proficiency in operating and troubleshooting stock preparation machinery.
