Position Scope

The Insurance Manager will be responsible for overseeing the organization's insurance operations, managing client portfolios, coordinating underwriting and claims processes, and driving business growth. The role requires ensuring regulatory compliance, maintaining strong relationships with clients and insurance partners, and leading the insurance team to deliver exceptional service and operational excellence.

Job Description

  1. Insurance Operations: - Manage insurance policy administration and renewals. - Coordinate underwriting and claims processes.
  2. Client Relationship Management: - Maintain strong relationships with clients and insurers. - Address customer inquiries and complaints promptly.
  3. Business Development: - Identify opportunities for new business and portfolio growth. - Develop strategies to increase insurance sales.
  4. Compliance and Risk Management: - Ensure compliance with insurance regulations and company policies. - Monitor operational risks and recommend mitigation measures.
  5. Team Supervision: - Supervise and mentor insurance staff. - Conduct staff performance reviews and training.
  6. Reporting and Analysis: - Prepare operational and performance reports. - Analyse insurance trends and business performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Insurance, Risk Management, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Professional insurance certification (ACII, IIK, COP or equivalent).
  • Strong analytical and leadership skills

Strong knowledge of insurance operations, underwriting, and claims management. Sound understanding of Kenyan insurance regulations and industry best practices. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong leadership and team management abilities. Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills. Proven client relationship management and customer service skills. Business development and sales acumen with the ability to identify growth opportunities. Strong organizational and time management skills with attention to detail. Ability to prepare, analyze, and present operational and performance reports. High level of integrity, professionalism, and accountability. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and insurance management systems is an added advantage.
