Job Title: Associate

Reports to: Principal Associate/Partner

 

Job Purpose:

Our partner, a leading Law Firm in Kenya is looking to hire an Associate. They offer legal services to individuals, SMEs leading companies and the public sector. They advise both local and foreign clients. The Associate will handle legal matters in the assigned practice area.

 

Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Client Relationship Management:
    • Develop effective working relationships with clients
    • Identify client needs and respond quickly with recommended solutions
    • Consistently deliver value to clients by providing high-quality service
    • Respond promptly and professionally to requests for assistance
  • Business Management:
    • Understand and act in accordance to the firm’s policies, standards and controls; consult with others as appropriate
    • Work to meet set targets within the department or unit
    • Maintain good financial disciplines to ensure profitability
    • Deliver to clients on time, within budget, and to the client's full satisfaction
    • Suggest improvements to internal processes and services (e.g., quality, cost, response time)
    • Exhibit integrity and confronts unethical actions
    • Judge the sensitivity of information and treats it appropriately
    • Demonstrate a high level of productivity in work through time and cost control and Expenses
  • Research and Knowledge Management:
    • Demonstrate competence in own area of expertise and keep professional knowledge current
    • Keep abreast of issues that may affect the industry and the clients
    • Remain current on client's business and industry to ensure that advice provided is sound and relevant
    • Research and apply, as appropriate, new work-related information that may vary in complexity
    • Generate, share and apply knowledge to achieve the best outcomes for the company and its clients
    • Question current ways of doing things, suggest new approaches.
    • Seek opportunities to learn from others in different technical areas
    • Committed to improve own performance, learn and seeks out development opportunities to increase own success, teams, the firm and its clients
    • Take advantage of training and development opportunities
    • Train interns on the company’s legal practices

Requirements

  • Minimum Requirements 
    • LLB degree from a recognized university
    • Advocate of the High Court of Kenya
    • A technically strong advocate with at least 3 years of experience with solid exposure to commercial, banking and finance etc. in private practice or as in-house Counsel.

    • Ability to foster positive relationships with all individuals across the Firm as well as clients
