Job Title: Data Collection Officer

Data Collection Officers are the frontline of the GIS mapping program, responsible for visiting businesses and infrastructure locations to collect geo-referenced data. DCOs capture GPS coordinates, photographs, and business information using mobile devices, meeting a daily target of 80 records per person
• Collect 80 geo-referenced records per day across assigned zones
• Capture accurate GPS coordinates for each business/asset location
• Take clear photographs of premises, signage, and relevant features
• Complete all required data fields in mobile collection app
• Verify business details with owners/managers where possible
• Identify and record new businesses not in existing database
• Capture advertising signs and wayleave infrastructure as assigned
• Report progress to Team Leader every 2 hours
• Maintain assigned equipment (smartphone, power bank) in good condition
• Follow data collection protocols and quality standards
• Minimum KCSE Certificate (C- or above)
• Age 18-35 years
• Previous experience in data collection, enumeration, or census preferred
• Basic smartphone proficiency required
• Good knowledge of local area within Mombasa County
• Fluent in English and Swahili
• Smartphone and mobile app operation
• GPS and map navigation
• Clear written and verbal communication
• Attention to detail and accuracy
• Interpersonal skills for business engagement
• Physical fitness for extensive walking
