Job Description
1. Strategic Financial Management
- Lead the development and implementation of financial strategies aligned with the company’s business objectives.
- Advise the General Manager and Board on key financial decisions and risks.
- Oversee cash flow planning to meet operational and capital needs.
- Monitor and evaluate business performance against budget, forecasts, and KPIs.
2. Financial Control and Reporting
- Supervise timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements:Profit and Loss Account, Statement of Financial Position, Cash Flow Statement
- Ensure compliance with, tax laws, and statutory regulations.
- Lead month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring adherence to reporting deadlines.
- Prepare quarterly financial reviews for strategic decision-making.
- Maintain and continuously improve internal financial controls and policies.
- Oversee timely completion of external and internal audits.
3. Financial Analysis and Forecasting
- Conduct variance analysis and interpret financial trends to inform business strategy.
- Create and manage budgets in collaboration with departmental heads.
- Develop financial models and performance reports to support decision-making.
- Provide weekly internal audit and financial health updates to management.
- Maintain and present cash flow forecasts and working capital analysis.
4. Expense and Petty Cash Management
- Supervise management of business running expenses through petty cash utilization.
- Ensure accountability, documentation, and timely replenishment of petty cash.
- Regularly audit petty cash usage and reconcile balances.
5. Accounts Payable Oversight
- Supervise processing of purchase invoices, payment runs, salary advances, and statutory returns.
- Review and approve VAT calculations and payroll processing.
- Ensure banking, reconciliation of payments, and documentation is accurate and timely.
- Review and validate the following reports by the 5th of each month:Payables Aging Report, Monthly VAT Report, Financial Statement Package, Financial Analysis Commentary
6. Accounts Receivable Oversight
- Ensure daily bank reconciliation and accuracy of accounts receivable records.
- Supervise debt follow-up.
- Oversee issuance and validation of invoices, delivery notes, and system entries.
- Approve monthly reports including:Bank Reconciliation, Debtors Aging Report (Highlighting risks and bad debts)
- Provide leadership in credit control and review of dormant customer accounts.
- Approve reconciliations of daily counter sales and customer payments.
7. Fixed Assets and Compliance
- Maintain the Fixed Assets Register and conduct periodic verification.
- Ensure tax filings, statutory payments, and other compliance obligations are met on time.
- Liaise with legal and regulatory authorities during audits and inspections.
