The Accountant will be responsible for managing the day-to-day financial operations of the business, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting. The role requires strong expertise in the FMCG sector and hands-on experience with SAGE accounting software to support efficient financial management and decision-making.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities
Financial Accounting & Reporting
• Prepare accurate financial statements and management reports in line with company policies and IFRS standards.
Perform monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing processes.
Reconcile general ledger accounts, bank statements, and supplier/customer accounts.
Accounts Payable & Receivable
• Oversee invoicing, collections, and supplier payments.
Ensure credit control and timely debt recovery.
Monitor aging reports and resolve discrepancies.
Budgeting & Forecasting
• Assist in preparation of budgets and financial forecasts.
Track variances and provide analysis to support business decisions.
Cost Management (FMCG Focus)
• Monitor inventory costing and stock reconciliations.
Track sales, margins, and distribution expenses.
Conduct cost analysis to improve efficiency in supply chain and distribution.
Compliance & Audit
• Ensure compliance with statutory requirements (tax, VAT, PAYE, etc.).
Support both internal and external audit processes.
Maintain proper documentation and internal controls.
SAGE Accounting
• Manage financial transactions and reporting within SAGE.
Train and support team members on effective SAGE usage.
Generate real-time reports to support management decision-making.
Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
CPA (K)/ACCA qualification (or equivalent) is required.
Minimum 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience, in an FMCG or approved distributors.
Proven working knowledge of SAGE Accounting Software is a MUST.
Strong understanding of IFRS, tax laws, and financial best practice.
Available to start immediately preferably not in active employment.
