Position Scope

Job Title: Facilities Maintenance Technician (Plumbing & Electrical)

Reports To: Property Supervisor.

Job Purpose

To ensure the efficient operation, maintenance, and repair of plumbing and electrical systems in Various Company Properties. The role combines both trades to provide timely, high-quality services that ensure all building services remain functional, safe, and compliant with relevant standards.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

Plumbing Duties

  • Install, repair, and maintain water supply lines, drainage systems, and sanitary fixtures.
  • Diagnose and resolve plumbing faults, leaks, and blockages.
  • Conduct routine inspections of plumbing systems to ensure optimal performance.
  • Ensure compliance with local plumbing codes and safety regulations.

Electrical Duties

  • Install, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems, wiring, lighting, and fixtures.
  • Carry out preventive maintenance on electrical panels, sockets, and switches.
  • Respond to electrical breakdowns and power outages promptly.
  • Ensure all electrical work complies with Kenya's electrical safety standards and relevant regulations.

General Maintenance Duties

  • Maintain accurate records of repairs, inspections, and replacements.
  • Assist in other general facility repair tasks as required.
  • Work closely with other technicians and contractors to ensure timely completion of tasks.
  • Follow safety procedures and use protective equipment at all times.

Requirements

Qualifications and Skills.

Education & Certification:

  • Diploma or Certificate in Electrical Installation from a recognized institution (NITA / TVET / accredited college).
  • Certificate in Plumbing (or equivalent qualification).
  • Valid Electrical Wireman's License (Class T2 or higher) from the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) is an added advantage.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in both plumbing and electrical maintenance, preferably in facilities management, hospitality, or commercial buildings.

Technical Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of Kenyan electrical and plumbing codes.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
  • Hands-on experience with preventive and corrective maintenance procedures.
