Position Scope

Our partner, a Luxury Hotel based in Nanyuki is looking to hire a Procurement Intern. The Procurement Intern will assist the procurement team in overseeing the entire purchase order process, ensuring accuracy in order details and pricing through collaboration with suppliers. The intern will also monitor order statuses, address any issues, and maintain organized records. This role provides practical experience in procurement and supply chain management while supporting the hotel’s operations.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in vendor research, contract management, negotiations, and inventory management
  • Collaborate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of goods and services
  • Monitor order statuses and address any issues or discrepancies
  • Maintain accurate and organized records of procurement activities
  • Provide support to the procurement team in sourcing critical items and resolving invoice issues with suppliers
  • Assist in tracking and supporting rental equipment logistics, such as delivery and returns
  • Develop analytical skills through data analysis and reporting on procurement metrics
  • Participate in meetings and negotiations with suppliers, as needed
  • Contribute to the development of procurement strategies and processes

Requirements

Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree or Master’s Degree program in Business, Supply Chain, Operations, International Business, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and prioritize tasks with limited resources.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Familiarity with procurement software and systems.
  • Hands-on experience through prior internship, relevant volunteering or work experience is an added advantage.

Work Environment:

 

The Procurement Intern will work in a fast-paced hotel environment, collaborating with various departments, including procurement, operations, and finance. The intern will be expected to work independently and as part of a team, with flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.

Duration: 

The internship will last for a minimum of 3 months, with the possibility of extension or conversion to a full-time position, depending on performance and business needs.

Compensation:

A stipend will be provided.
