Position Scope

Position: Depot Operative
Location: Nakuru, Nairobi, Eldoret, Kisumu, Mombasa
Reports to: Depot Supervisor / Depot Manager
Client: Oil Logistics Company
Salary: KES 45,000

Job Purpose:

To support the smooth day-to-day operations of the depot, ensuring efficient handling, storage, dispatch, and documentation of products. The role involves working in a fast-paced environment to maintain high safety, quality, and operational standards.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Product Handling & Storage:
    • Assist in receiving, offloading, and proper storage of fuel or products at the depot.
    • Monitor stock levels and report any discrepancies to the Depot Supervisor.
    • Ensure proper labelling, tagging, and organization of inventory.
  • Dispatch & Loading Operations:
    • Load and prepare orders for dispatch based on delivery schedules.
    • Ensure correct quantities and types of products are dispatched.
    • Coordinate with drivers and dispatch teams for timely and safe deliveries.
  • Safety & Compliance:
    • Follow all health, safety, and environmental regulations in the handling of petroleum or goods.
    • Wear and maintain required PPE at all times.
    • Report safety hazards, spills, or equipment issues immediately.
  • Record-Keeping & Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate manual or digital logs of product movement and stock balances.
    • Record deliveries, dispatches, and returns per company procedures.
    • Participate in regular stock counts and reconciliation.
  • Depot Maintenance & Support:
    • Keep depot areas clean, organized, and secure.
    • Assist with equipment checks and minor maintenance tasks.
    • Support the team in general depot activities as assigned.

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Diploma or Degreein Logistics, Supply Chain, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.

·  Minimum 2 years’ experience in depot, warehouse, or logistics operations (preferably in oil and gas).

·  Working knowledge of stock management systems or ERP tools is an added advantage.

  • Must demonstrate a clear understanding of safety regulations and fuel handling procedures.
