Job Summary:

 

We are recruiting on behalf of our client, for an experienced HR Manager to oversee HR operations for a manufacturing company in Kilifi County, Kenya. The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of HR experience, including 5 years in a similar role in a manufacturing environment. Key responsibilities include managing HR operations, legal compliance, recruitment, employee engagement, performance management, and workplace safety. The HR Manager will also handle vendor management and expatriate support. Immediate availability is required.

Job Description

Core Responsibilities:
1. HR Operations & Legal Compliance

  • Ensure full adherence to local employment laws and internal HR policies.
  • Draft and manage employment contracts.
  • Lead labor relations and union negotiations, including CBAs.
  • Oversee payroll and benefits administration.

2. Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning

  • Lead recruitment processes and develop strategies to attract and retain high-quality talent.
  • Collaborate with department leads for manpower planning and resource allocation.

3. Employee Engagement & Performance Management

  • Address employee concerns, grievances, and disciplinary issues.
  • Implement employee development and training initiatives.
  • Monitor and manage performance evaluation processes to drive organizational goals.

4. Health, Safety & Administrative Oversight

  • Develop and enforce workplace safety and health protocols.
  • Coordinate facility management with administrative teams.

5. Vendor & Welfare Management

  • Manage service contracts, especially those related to employee welfare such as catering.
  • Ensure compliance and value-for-money in vendor partnerships.

6. Expatriate Support & Immigration Compliance

  • Coordinate work permits, visa processes, and housing for expatriate employees.
  • Liaise with relevant authorities to ensure timely and lawful processing.

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field; a postgraduate qualification in HRM is preferred.
  • Active membership with the Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM).
  • A minimum of 10 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 5 years in a similar role within a manufacturing setting of 200+ employees.
  • In-depth understanding of Kenya’s Employment Act, 2007, and relevant labor case law.
  • Demonstrated experience handling labor unions and collective bargaining agreements.
  • Hands-on experience with HRIS systems such as SAP, ERP, or equivalent platforms.
